For the past eight years Green Wave has been the fiscal sponsor for the non-profit, private, international school named Futuro Verde here in the jungle of Costa Rica. It is an inspiring school and we've had so many incredible successes.
A progressive, international, and bilingual institution, Futuro Verde received the honor of being authorized as an IB World School for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program this past year. Beyond this important achievement, Futuro Verde is vital because it provides underprivileged youth access to a world class education, immediate relief in the form of basic daily nourishment, and an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.
Futuro Verde is a dual language, environmental school located in the jungle of Cóbano, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Creating this international institution in a rural location was no small feat, with classrooms starting out in tents and the next closest school of its kind located over 100 miles away. We are a child-centered school connecting global cultures while focusing on developing children as leaders ready to address global issues and the environment.
While solid structures have been completed for some of the classrooms there is still much to be done and more to be built: primary and secondary classrooms, a school library, art and lab spaces, sports facilities, a dedicated special education classroom, and further development of the school programs to support our students.
One third of the students attending Futuro Verde do so on Scholarship; enabling students who could never afford to otherwise, the opportunity to attend an academically rigorous school and make big dreams for their future.
Great things are happening at Futuro Verde but we need your help. Will you join me in supporting the continued growth and expansion of Futuro Verde, to help us thrive in our mission of sustainability and to help so many more in our community achieve their dreams?
We are looking to introduce Futuro Verde to the right audience and engage new supporters. We would be honored for your help connecting with others you think may be interested in supporting this special school. If you would like me to help you reach out to your contacts, a quick email introduction to them, cc’ing me, is all I will need to then follow-up with them personally.
